Introducing the SUB DRIVER 2.0 – the latest evolution of our most trusted board for small wave domination. From Kolohe Andino’s incredible run of five WQS wins in 2011 (which secured his WCT qualification), to Mick Fanning famously grabbing one from Kolohe’s stash at Lowers and declaring it “a game-changer,” the original SUB DRIVER earned a legendary reputation. It quickly became a must-have for our competitive team, and still is to this day.

Designed to thrive in the unpredictable conditions of the WQS circuit, this board is just as fun and functional for everyday surfers. The SUB DRIVER 2.0 is built to deliver pro-level performance while staying accessible to the rest of us.

Refined on the forgiving points of San Clemente, it’s tailor-made for connecting the dots in soft, crumbly peaks or inconsistent beachies. Originally built with contest surfers in mind, it’s also one of the best daily drivers you’ll ever ride.

What’s new in the SUB DRIVER 2.0?

After constant testing and tweaks with the likes of Kolohe Andino, Griffin Colapinto, and our next-gen Junior and WQS riders, we’ve packed this version with updates that make a big difference:

  • A fuller, more stable nose: Improves paddling power, gets you in earlier, and helps maintain speed down the line—plus it adds a stable landing platform for progressive airs.

  • Refined hip through the tail: A more subtle and streamlined version of the wide hip balances the fuller nose and helps initiate turns more smoothly. Combined with the wide squash tail, it creates a lively, responsive platform for tight manoeuvres in weak waves.

  • Extra foam under the chest and a “vee” deck shape: We’ve increased volume along the stringer to aid paddling and added a subtle vee that leads to lower-volume rails. This makes the board more reactive while still offering forgiveness and float in flat spots.

  • Enhanced concaves for speed and lift: A deeper single to double concave flows through the tail, generating lift and drive while allowing water to release cleanly for added speed.

  • Curved rail rocker with low centreline tail rocker: This combination acts like a hinge under your back foot, giving you the control to pivot vertically in the pocket without sacrificing down-the-line drive.

The updated dimensions and generous outline in both the nose and tail mean you can ride the SUB DRIVER 2.0 1–2 inches shorter than your typical performance shortboard. It’s also now available in our BRO dims—a scaled-up option for surfers who want extra volume without sacrificing performance.

Whether you’re chasing contest wins or just looking for a board that’ll fly in everyday surf, the SUB DRIVER 2.0 delivers proven results.
