The Neutron is based off the DNA of our best seller the Hazzatron which was designed in collaboration with professional surfer Harry Timson.
We wanted to create a board with similar performance, but with more usability for the smaller waves conditions. After being tried and tested by a number of NS team riders (such as Harry Timson and Will Bailey) and in various conditions, including in the barrels of Nicaragua, its proven to be a versatile board and has quickly become a team favourite!
Nigel wanted the Neutron to look sleek and aesthetically pleasing so he’s maintained a similar profile to the Hazzatron but the Neutron has been made slightly wider, fuller in the nose and pumped with a bit more volume. As with the Hazzatron, it has a single concave running through the board but the rocker line has been lowered slightly to give you better nose entry into the waves.
If you’re looking for a board that’s easy to ride and will help you improve your surfing, the Neutron is a great option. It’s perfect for intermediate surfers who want to start surfing more aggressively, or for experienced surfers who want a board that’s easy to paddle and catch waves with.
We recommend this board 2 inches shorter than your everyday wave board (dependent on your ability level) and a couple of litres more in volume than your standard shortboard. We also suggest you opt for a 5 fin setup so you can enjoy the board switched between a quad for a looser more skatey feel, or thruster if you want more hold and drive through the turns.
