Unlike shortboards, long boards have a larger surface area, making them more stable, easier to balance on, and easier to get to your feet. This makes them a great choice for those just starting out, or those who may not yet feel comfortable shortboard. Typically, long boards also allow surfers to catch waves earlier and ride them for longer.

Long boards are also great for performing manoeuvres such as cutbacks, floaters, and hang-fives. Surfers can also take advantage of the wide nose characteristics of a longboard and use them for nose riding, which is a great way to show off your skills on the waves.

If you’re looking for stability and maneuverability, long boards are a great option, for a beginner or we would suggest a funboard if you’re a real beginner.
